A REVIEW OF "NIGERIA IS WORTH SAVING" AND "IS NIGERIA WORTH SAVING." OCTOBER 15, 2022
Saving the Niger Delta and the Tompolo Surveillance Impact Assessment
Saving the Niger Delta is saving the Nigerian economy. Before the Tompolo Surveillance Impact Assessments, there was an essay titled, "Is Nigeria Worth Saving."
Early this year, when the Word Bank reported the inability of Nigeria to meet its daily crude oil production quota as set by OPEC, the story was not covered or considered newsworthy in Nigeria. I did cover it and proffered solutions appropriately, knowing that (1) crude oil is the mainstay of the Nigerian economy, and (2), we are finding it difficult to fund our university educational system.
For the purpose of records, when I saw the World Bank reports regarding our production shortfalls, I addressed the issue for the first time on May 31, 2022, in an essay, I titled, "Nigeria is Worth Saving." Sadly, neither the NNPC nor the Presidency saw any need for action. As always, we treated it as a non-issue.
And following a story by the Guardian of London on the unprecedented profits Saudi Arabia made from its crude oil sale in the first quarter of this year as a result of the heightened demands for crude oil due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, I addressed the issue the second time on August 17, 2022. The essay was titled "Is Nigeria Worth Saving?" and I wrote it in fury, yes, vehemently angry.
The two essays forced the GDM of the NNPC, Mr. Mele Kyari and his management team out of their comfort zones into action, culminating in the award of an N48bn pipeline surveillance yearly contract to Mr. Tompolo. Also, they were published before his address to the nation, wherein he lamented the surge in pipeline vandalism and how the nation is losing about 80% of its daily crude oil production to thieves and vandals.
Ideas and wisdom move a nation forward. The two essays signaled the ongoing discovery of decades-old channels of pillaging of our oil wealth by unknown Nigerians through illegal pipelines. If in recent weeks you're seeing the GDM and his management team traversing the swampy creeks of the Niger Delta, the motivation began in the essay you are about to read below.
I'm not a Presidential candidate, so far, only one Presidential candidate has come close to identifying with me on the issue of our production shortfalls and how to meet the demands of ASUU. However, on the question of confronting the sabotage and hostile business climate in the Niger Delta and eliminating them (solutions), I'm the only man standing. Who else is talking about the Host Communities or openly propagating meeting the interests of the Host Communities?
As a Senator, I will not only be upfront in identifying national problems that are evading public scrutiny or attention and developing reasonable solutions, I will make it a task to ensure that those who are involved in criminal activities or acts of sabotage are prosecuted and jailed accordingly.
During his chat with the media on August 31, 2022, he told Nigerians that Churches and mosques are harboring stolen crude oil products. And he stated inter alia "When we say we are losing several 700,000 barrels of crude oil daily, we mean it. This is opportunity loss. There is no company that will produce oil and then you lose 80 percent of that and continue to produce the oil."
Today is October 15, 2022, making it about a month and fifteen days post his news conference, the GDM is yet to reveal to Nigerians the identity of those who were involved in the church and mosque crude oil warehousing projects. Adding to that, he told us that some people were arrested for engaging in bunkering activities. Where are the culprits and why are they not indicted?
My Motto is ACCOUNTABILITY AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE. Insha Allah, I will make it to the Nigerian Senate and join hands with patriotic and selfless Nigerians to transform this country into the status and image God created it to be, in Jesus Christ Holy Name I'm making this declaration. Amen.
And if you'd be kind enough to contribute to my campaign funds, please, send me a text or call me directly at 0704 921 5084. Thank you and God Bless. Amen.
Please, the essay is available, below.
