NIGERIA: On the Ministerial Redeployment:

Notable, being Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo from Marine and Blue Economy to Interior, while Sa'idu Alkali is redeployed from Interior to Transportation. This is a welcome development.
Be that as it may, I'm still worried about how a 41-year-old guy can run the Internal Affairs of a complex country, like Nigeria. I know he has a master's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and served in the House of Reps, but the extent that background qualifies him to be the Big Boss of our domestic affairs, security-wise, remains debatable.
There are fine well-red serving and retired Military and Police Officers who can occupy that portfolio and do great things for our great country. If his graduate background is in Global Security or Public Policy, I would have clapped along. In a similar vein, it would have made more sense if either the Minister of Defense or the Minister of State for Defense has a background in the Military or DSS.
Anyway, as I protested in my previous post on the Ministerial list, (IS THE FEDERAL CHARACTER STUPID? August 19, 2023), I want to reinstate that it's not ideal to have DEFENSE, DEPUTY DEFENSE, INTERIOR, POLICE AFFAIRS, DEPUTY POLICE AFFAIRS, AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS from the same region.
And now that the Interior has gone to the West, I still strongly suggest that either the Minister of State for Defense or the Minister of Police Affairs goes to the East.
It's about equity and fairness. If we don't want the East or do not trust the Easterners, we should allow them to have their separate Republic. If it has to do with the percentage of votes the President received from the region, I respectfully hold that such thinking betrays the fundamental essence of our growing democracy and punches holes in our slogan of unity in diversity.
