I AM ACCORD AND THAT'S MY REALITY. December 05, 2022

I've been publicly and privately admonished for not joining forces or running under the umbrella of the Labour Party. Also, I've also been told that I would have been swimming in money/campaign contributions if I had joined the Labour Party. On the surface, yes, that possibility appears real.

But, no one has taken the pain to know, verify, or ask when and where did the Labour Party conduct its Primaries in Edo State during the primaries season. Was there ever a chance or available opportunity for a newly brewed sojourner like me? We may never know.

To set the record straight, during my consultation process, I was reliably informed that the Labour Party in Edo State has two factions just like the PDP. There was Labour and there was Zenith Labour.

Being new to the scene, I wasn't comfortable and didn't want to contend with functionalization. So, not knowing the authentic characters involved or the faction they belong to, I went to the Accord. That was before the arrival of Peter Obi and his emergence as the Labour Presidential candidate. And the rest, according to a popular saying, is now history.

Therefore, unless you are privy to the making of a fact situation or adequately briefed by a participant in the fact situation, do not crucify or castigate someone who you thought, albeit erroneously, didn't take advantage of the reality on the ground. Was there ever a reality to be exploited?

Simply put, I do not know what would have happened if I had gone to the Labour party. But, what I do know now is that I'm in - a senatorial candidate. What happens next, I don't know. Nevertheless, I do fervently believe that my Heavenly Father God Almighty didn't bring me this far to abandon me. Insha Allah, the best is yet to come.

First, I asked God to place me on the Senatorial Ballot and God granted my request. Was I desperate in the process? No. However, I consulted with a man of God before making the choice. And I remain thankful to my Heavenly Father for His Mercies and Favours upon me.

And as long as my Party, the Accord, is one of the registered political parties in Nigeria, I remain grateful to God Almighty for being a listening Father. And that's my reality.

Finally, if you could accept Mr Peter Obi without regard to his party label, it's honourable and morally dignifying that you do the same for me. After all, we've all agreed that in this electoral season, emphasis should be on the contents of the candidate's character and not the name or label of his or her political party.
