Sustainable Development in Nigeria and the Need for Victoria Island/Lekki/Epe/Shagamu Commuter Rail Line. SEPTEMBER 30, 2022
Will the Lagos State Government be willing to concession a Victoria Island/Lekki/Epe Commuter Rail Transport Service to the Private Sector?
The presence of the Dangote refinery, compounded by the surge in land and property acquisition in that corridor in recent times, is going to turn traveling by road on the Lekki/Epe/Shagamu Highway into one of a roforofo fight or adventure in no time.
Over the years, property owners around Awoyaya and Ajah town who work in VI and Ikoyi must leave the house by 4.30 AM to be able to resume work by 8 AM. And that's supposedly about a forty-five minutes drive/commute under normal circumstances. The experience is heart-wrenching. The homebound ride is even worse.
Anyway, to the likely investors, the investment is sure to yield a bigger bang for your buck. Imagine driving on the New Jersey Turnpike, without the Amtrak, the New Jersey Transit, and Acela rail lines on the side. That's the situation on this route at the moment.
