A Landmark Copyright Violation Case is Over, and It is Victory for Creativity. May 06, 2023

What was at stake here was the allegation of appropriation of Black Music by a White Musician on the premise of Chord progression. However, the jury did not buy into that racial argument. If "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheen doesn't sound like "Let’s Get It On" by Marvin Gaye and was never intended to sound like "Let’s Get It On," then there is no copyright infringement.
