THE FEAR OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) AND THE MISSING HUMAN FACE. May 12, 2023

The world has created a monster. And no one is safe. Regulatory compliance is zero, and our privacy is not so private anymore.
It can interpret your dreams and give you a full load of a business plan tailored to your specifications in about twenty seconds. As you read, Harvard University Law School is reporting on its LinkedIn profile that AI has created a song mimicking the work of Drake and The Weekend.
Welcome to a world of endless new beginnings where copyright violation has become a mere grammatical expression. Prove it if you want but I didn't do it.
Be that as it may, this one shall come to pass.
About two decades ago, the Dotcom era came, packed with bubbles unprecedented in the history of human ingenuity or invention.
The investment world took a ride and firmly believes that Silicon Valley's newest magic can vanquish our much-cherished human discovery (money) and eliminate the traditional marketplace. We were wrong.
It was all about the Dotcom, and the Ghosting of software was the vogue. Within a few years of the bubble, the crash came, and a plethora of enthusiastic venture capitalists suffered devastating financial losses too lengthy to catalog here.
A few prominent Silicon Valley and San Francisco-based law firms that tied their billings and fees to the stocks of these human contraptions called firms were not so lucky. They went down with the burst.
It was global. It was chaotic. And I was around, involved, and earning big. I worked in the capacity of a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer for different IT startups, focused on desktop support and network admin. Lunchtime was normally buffet. And life was good. I was driving a sports car - Nissan 240XL.
Like a bolt from the blue, came the crash. It was fast. It was furious. And it was devastating. From $17 an hour to $37 an hour within forty days. And down to $12 an hour at the Home Depot a few years later. The eclipse didn't send a signal. And went back to school.
Now, the AI has come, packed with unpleasant memories and uncertainties, and the fear of the unknown is deafening our ears. Call it ChatGPT4, BardA1, or TruthGPT; like the Dotcom, they shall all come to pass.
They will create billionaires overnight, no doubt. However, what they won't stop is sending thousands of workers to the unemployment lines - Google and Facebook have just begun firing them. And that's the missing human face in AI.
