What Would the FBI Have Done in a Similar Circumstance? May 21, 2023

Investigate, arrest, indict, establish a Prema facie case of fraud or embezzlement of public funds, prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt, secure a conviction, and forfeiture of the stolen funds.
No one has ever heard the news that the FBI is conducting a probe. They do their investigation stealthily, and if they can establish probable cause for wrongdoing, they would proceed into action (arrest) when the culprit least expects.
Time and time again, our EFCC keeps making public announcements about probes or invitations to answer questions. If you are sure of your facts and evidence, go ahead and make an arrest, we are tired of reading in the newspapers about probes and invitations to answer questions.
To my Nigerian friends and family members, if you are reading this story, and you don't understand what I'm writing about, think of how Hushpuppi (Ramon Olorunwa Abass) and members of his gang were arrested while sleeping at their Dubai residences. The Dubai Police and the FBI didn't make headline news about their investigation until the fraudsters were arrested. That's the best approach.
Finally, as a governor, section 308 (the immunity clause) of the 1999 Constitution is over the moment the succeeding or new governor takes the oath of office. If someone who is accused of fraud is still standing and that someone doesn't enjoy a modicum of immunity, then one can objectively conclude that the EFCC is engaging in selective prosecution.
